This is a great article from the Wall Street Journal, where they interviewed Sarah Palin’s friend Kristan Cole.   However, I find this comment from one of the readers one of the most sticking points that is rarely mentioned by the MSN.

Oh really! The Clintons didn’t quit and go home in a snit, and they were investigated and harassed throughout their 8 years in the White House. Sarah Palin was simply out of her league. Way out. Thank goodness she did not become the one who got that “3 a.m. phone call.”

Shannyn Moore strikes back at Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for threatening Moore with a libel and slander suit for defamation of character.  Palin has accused Moore (and almost every left leaning website and organization) and others in a legal brief from her attorney for stating “rumours” as fact during an interview with David Schuster on Harball.   Moore claimed that there were many rumours swirling throughout Alaska regarding a “possible federal investigation” over a sports complex built in 2002.

Liz Trotta a Fox News contributor broke away from Fox’s Pro-Palin campaign and called Sarah Palin, “inarticulate and uneducated”.  She further goes on to state that Governor Palin has used her good looks and gender to get ahead in politics, despite having no credentials.   After a morning of Palin-fever (on all the networks) almost knocking media coverage of Michael Jackson off the screen, Liz Trotta declares that Palin has brought this attention on herself, and given the liberal media tons of raw meat to work with.

I did find it rather interesting that the Fox commentator kept trying to “quietly” attack President Barack Obama, but failed to get his point across to Trotta.

7/6/9 11:16 AM — The New York times is reporting that Sarah Palin has left her role of Governor because of increasing legal fees over 15 ethics investigations in the last 2.5 years.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell of Alaska said Sunday that Gov. Sarah Palin’s decision to resign was largely prompted by the personal legal costs of the ethics investigations against her.

7/5/9 2:07 AM — This is a bombshell — Sarah Palin is threatening to take legal action against Huffington Post, Washington Post, and MSNBC.  This was posted on the Huffington Post, and is from the Associated Press.

“To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as ‘fact’ that Governor Palin resigned because she is ‘under federal investigation’ for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation,” Van Flein said in a statement. “This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.”

7/5/9  2:03 AM — Sorry, I was not able to keep track of Governor Palin as I had family responsibilities to attend to on the 4th of July, and Simon was tending to a friend of his.

Reporting from Washington — A day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resigned, a federal official in her home state dismissed one potential explanation for her sudden and unexpected resignation: a rumored FBI investigation into the former Wasilla mayor on public corruption charges.

Despite rumors of a looming controversy after the Republican governor’s surprise announcement Friday that she would leave office this month, some of them published in the blogosphere, the FBI’s Alaska spokesman said the bureau had no investigation into Palin for her activities as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.

The head of the Republican Governor’s Association said on Friday that in emails sent to him moments before she announced her resignation as governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin discussed expanding the role she played in the Republican Party.

“Part of her decision is she wants to spend more time campaigning for candidates,” Nick Ayers, the executive director of the RGA, told Fox News.

7/3/9  6:49 PM Shannyn Moore from Alaska and a contributor of the Huffington Post  is revealing that there may be forthcoming criminal investigation forthcoming against Palin.   She said this on Hardball during an interview with David Schuster.   Will post video once I get it.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced Friday afternoon she will resign from office on July 26 and return to private life. It was a stunning decision by last year’s Republican vice presidential candidate and a leading contender for the 2012 presidential race.

Palin made the announcement at a lakeside news conference in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. “We know we can effect positive change outside government at this moment in time on another scale and actually make a difference for our priorities,” she told supporters.

So what is next for Palin? There are rampant rumors in Alaska’s political circles that the almost former governor has been offered a job at the Fox News Channel. Given that channel’s support of Palin, and her ability to make headlines, it seems like a natural fit. It would also be a good platform for her to build support for some future political bid.

If the rumor is indeed true, it’s not clear what role at Fox News would be appropriate for her background. She seems unlikely to be able to handle her own full-fledged talker. But a producer at a rival cable news channel said she would probably do well as a general commentator/guest for the network.

As for the position of Alaska’s governor, that role will be filled by Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.

WASILLA, Alaska – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday she is resigning from office at the end of the month, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate made the surprise announcement from her home in suburban Wasilla on Friday morning. She said she would step down July 26 but didn’t announce her plans.

“Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose,” Palin said in a statement released by her office.

“It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success,” she said.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor’s picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month, Palin spokesman Dave Murrow said.

Palin was first elected in 2006 on a populist platform. But her popularity has waned as she waged in partisan politics following her return from the presidential campaign. Her term would have ended in 2010.
