Now that Barack Obama has been elected President of the United States, we can move Defend Your Vote.com in the direction of transition.   We will begin to explore the records and ideologies of President Elect Obama’s cabinet picks, and report back to our readers the information we discover.   We will begin by exploring the issues, and begin the discussion of the American people’s mandate to become a country that once again is the will of the people.

Media Watch: DefendYourVote.com will continue to watch the media and post the stories that are off base, out of touch, and just plain wacky.   We will also post stories that are spot on and speak to the important matters of transition.  These could be stories from the Main Stream Media or articles and diary posts from other websites.

Must Read Op-Ed’s: Angelina will continue to post the opinions and editorials that are focused on the two biggest issues facing the United States – the economy and transition analysis.

Foreign Relation: Simon J. will post articles of interest, analysis, and exploration of how other nations respond to President-Elect Obama, his cabinet, transition, and the general view of how American policy affects the rest of the world.

Breaking News: This section will concentrate on issues (both American and worldly) that should be highlighted and stand out from the rest of the ‘daily news’ cycle.

Keep in mind, as we move through transition and eventually Inauguration Day, the site will become more centered and focused.  Our goal after Inauguration is to be an “issues” oriented site.   Government must remain governed by its citizenry.  Although, Barack Obama received a mandate to govern, his campaign promised that the “people” would have a voice in his administration.   If this really is “our moment”, then we plan to hold President-Elect Obama to his promise.  We invite you to defend your vote!

The likelihood of a John McCain presidency disappears from his grasp as each day towards Election Day passes by.   The latest poll on Pollster.com shows Obama with a 5.8 point lead nationally.  In many of the swing states (CO, FL, VA, NC, NM), Obama is leading with a possible Electoral College landslide.  It is clear John McCain has failed to make his pitch to the American people.

In a desperate attempt to win the election, surrogates of McCain and right wing groups have used the controversy over ACORN to suppress the vote of the American poor.   Earlier this week, the swamp dwellers of the politically misguided have crawled out of the sewer and arrived at the door of colleges and universities spewing venomous lies to reduce the youth vote who strongly support Barack Obama.  Now, according to Factcheck.org a commercial airing in swing states attempts to connect Obama to the 9/11 terror attacks and Mohammad Atta.

The ad created by National Republican Trust PAC has links to radically right wing site Newsmax.com.   Factcheck.org declares that this ad is the sleaziest of the ads produced to date.   The commercial attempts to woo or scare “security” moms towards McCain, the ad uses images of Mohammad Atta’s Florida driver’s license, granting health care to illegal aliens, and further messages of increased taxes.   However, in specific detail factcheck.org debunks all the accusations made against Obama.

In an attempt to sway potential Jewish American voters, the McCain campaign continues to link Obama with anything Muslim.   In Ohio, Sarah Palin reinvents her “Ayers” attack dog strategy revealing that the LA Times is purposely withholding a video tape featuring Barack Obama and “supposed” PLO spokesperson Rashid Khalidi.   The video is rumored to contain conversations and speeches that are anti-Israel and anti-American support of Israel.  Palin argues that the American people have the right to see how Obama participated in the event.    Fox News, further questions the LA Times withholding the tape, and proclaims that Khalidi is a radical terrorist.

However,  Seth Walls of the Huffington Post reports that ties to Khalidi could in fact affect John McCain.   In the 1990′s John McCain served as the chairman of the International Republican Institute (INI).   During his tenure, McCain approved several grants to Khalidi including one worth more than $500,000.   Further, McCain’s relationship to Khalidi goes back as far as 1993, and has supported several studies run by Khalidi’s group.    Moreover, Frank Rich revealed on “The Rachel Maddow Show,” that the latest attacks on Obama are the result of Obama having a plan for the campaign and McCain did not.
