The great thing about getting sick is that you not only experience natures weight loss program, but you get to geek all day about subjects that interest you.  Since, Simon and I both have regular day jobs, and our political ideas of giving government back to the people rather than ideologues we do this in our spare time.   The most interesting political event occurring on Tuesday’s election is New York 23rd District.

What many right pundits are not telling you is that NY 23rd district most likely will be redistricted in 2012.    This means that it will be absorbed within other districts in the state.  The surrounding districts are vastly democratic, whereas NY-23 has elected Republicans since the civil war.

This has created a media storm since Republicans nominated (she has since dropped out) a Candidate way down the list of importance (Scozzafava) because many career Republicans had no desire to run for a district that would eventually cease to exist.   Although Democrat loyalists including the President want Owens to win the race — the Democrat Congressmen from the surrounding districts would prefer he lose — so they do not face a challenge in a primary.   Interesting, news not seen on the MSM.

Meanwhile, Palin, Tea Baggers (which is startling label since it is a common colloquialism for  dipping your testicles in someones mouth — or sucking balls if you prefer a more vulgar vernacular) and other Primary hopefuls in 2010 have descending on New York decrying higher taxes, death panels (see the op-ed by Thaddeus McCotter — who uses fear as a proposal for wellness) and fears to get voters to support Hoffman.  Republicans are using this district to clearly pave the way for more primary purist republicans to be victorious in 2010.

It will be a sad day in New York if Republican Tea Baggers in the primary select a candidate that even David Patterson can beat.   Oh, the irony!
