I am always amazed when the truth begins to pour out in politics! If you take a gander at the latest opinions from right wing and right leaning columnists you start to get a whiff of what the issue is really about. Linda Chavez (Alien-Gate) and Sheldon Richman both write opinions that basically say, ”If we filter in all the lower middle class people (who are the sickest) then it will mean the healthiest of us wont get as good of coverage? ” Insane to think that people even think this way. Most of the people I have been discussing Health Care Reform with that are against any type of changes are mainly people that already have health insurance. For example, someone who collects disability from the Government tried to argue with me that he did not want to pay more taxes for Obama’s health care plan. I guess they believe it will come out through sales tax — because people on disability to not pay income tax. Another, more affluent person I discussed health care with, did not want his options to change because of the influx of all the people “that are lazy and didn’t study in school” that would stifle his coverage or cause his coverage to be not as savory as it is now. Have we really become so “self obsessed” that we no longer care about our fellow citizens? Has America, the home of the free and land of the brave really become America, home of the self obsessed and land of the borderlines? It appears we are going through a psychotic outbreak in this country, but unfortunatly many do not have the health care coverage to cover it.
