Must Read Blogs and Op-Eds — March 15, 2009

The GOP continues to hammer home the wrongs of the stimulus package by highlighting the amount of earmarks and pork barrel spending in the bill.   Interestingly enough, according to Tax Payers for Common Sense, Republicans requested 40% of earmarks and ranked highest among pork barrel spenders.   On 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, David Shuster reveals that Sarah Palin’s (you know that Bridge to Nowhere chic, that doesnt like earmarks?) state of Alaska requested more earmarks per capita than any other state.   Governor Palin though blames this “pork” including an airport to nowhere on the current Alaskan US Senators.  Meanwhile, in another state of hypocrisy, Michelle Bauchman (remember that swamp thing from MN, who claimed Barack Obama was a socialist and committing treason?) claims that she has vowed not to ask for earmarks for her district.  One then wonders why she has received 7 earmark requests totaling $3,767, 600.00.
