Must Read Blogs and Op-Eds — Feb 28, 2009
What a wild week! I must state I have been reading some tweets from Karl Rove, and just wondering why he simply does not get it. Let-me-explain-it-so-you-understand-it-Karl — the American people no longer wish to run the country the way they did 8 years ago. The republicans were defeated. Gone! Finished! The minor party, and if all they can offer is Jindal and Palin, they won’t be coming back soon!
When are you going to get it that WE THE PEOPLE, not YOU wish to see changes (a word that I do not exclusively equate with Barack Obama) occur in this country. We wish to see Universal Health Care (bet that one burns like holy water), Lower Taxes on the Middle Class (does that one burn more?), and the ending of the War(s) in Iraq and Afghanastan (oh noes!). When is the right wing going to understand that we are sick and tired (and Im Jewish) of the conflict that is occuring in Israel. We are sick of war, sick of pain, sick of suffering, and most of all sick of you!
If Obama fails then we will realize that we were wrong for voting him in. That will be our responsibility and the result of our choices, but we have the RIGHT AS THE PEOPLE to vote someone in that we feel is right for the country. These are the ideals of the majority of Americans. Why can’t the right wing just accept that? Bush lost the popular vote, yet ruled as if he won by a landslide, yet really had no mandate to govern. Why can’t the right wing just let Obama, who does have a mandate, enact the changes that the American people wanted?
I am reminded of 2001, my being upset with many of the changes Bush made to female rights including career and reproductive. I was told by many that if I did not like it then I should leave. I was told to “Get out!” So, now it is our turn, if you do not like it MR. ROVE — GET OUT!
