Must Read Op-Ed’s — December 18, 2008
Sarah Palin has official left the national scene and returned to her role as the Governor of Alaska. Senator Hillary Clinton will be vacating her Senate seat, and preparing for her new role as Secretary of State in the Obama Administration. Of course, this leaves the Senate seat that Hillary Clinton holds empty. Entering through the side door — Caroline Kennedy — the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy. Widely known for her absence from politics unlike the rest of her politically juggernaut family, she has made it known that she would be interested in filling the role that Clinton will leave behind. The question is not whether or not Caroline Kennedy is qualified for the Senate Seat. The debate (especially in wake of the current scandal in Illinois) is whether or not Governors should be able to appoint soemone to the vacant seats. Should the roll of filling these seats be selected by the president Governor, or should a special election be held so voters can decide who their Senators should be? We invite you to defend your vote!
